What makes an estate sale different
An estate sale is a house being emptied rather than a few tables on a driveway. Usually after a death, a move into care, or a downsize. That means furniture, tools, china, linens and the contents of an attic, priced to go in a weekend. It is where the solid old things show up, and it is worth arriving early.
Seeing what is inside before you go
Every sale here lists its contents with photographs and prices, so you can tell whether the sideboard you want is still there. On many of them you can buy outright and pick it up at a time you choose, rather than queueing at eight in the morning and hoping.
Clearing a house yourself
If you are the one doing the clearing, listing is free. Photograph what is in the house and we write the listings from the pictures, which is the part that otherwise takes two weeks. You can still take cash at the door.
